Porn and sex has always been a controversial or a taboo subject to talk about. We cannot talk about them in front of our elders or we may have to face their wrath. We are uncomfortable to tell that we watch porn to people we are in relation with to be not be labeled a pervert or something else and jeopardize our relationships. In addition, girls cannot tell their friends they watch porn as it is not socially acceptable and people are sure to ridicule them or think about them in the wrong and same is the case with guys. However, why is it such a taboo in our Indian society?

The main reason may be the conservative mindset of our elders, which is carried on by the younger generations. We are not even comfortable to even utter the word sex in front of our parents as it makes the situation uncomfortable  as most find it weird talking about it. Our parents find it weird, as they had never talked about it with their parents and so on. Therefore, our primary source of learning about sex becomes porn. That is where it all goes wrong. Even though it is not accurate but that is what we believe to be the true. Watching porn does not always do harm but it may change a person’s attitude towards the other sex making them only think about it and may even cause them to take violent steps when they do not get it. That is why it is necessary for the elders to discuss it with their kids and make them understand what sex is about and not consider it to be unacceptable to talk about it

However, porn is not a disgusting thing as thought by most, which is not true. It is actually a big business industry that earns a lot of money and just a field of work.. In addition, porn stars are considered people who are people that are just sluts but people do not understand it is just a job that they do like actors act in movies and even earn good amount of money. However, when we think about them we think that all they can do is have sex with someone and nothing else but some have created big business companies out of their work. The most relatable example would be Sunny Leone. She is has left the porn industry and tries to change her image but people still think of her as a porn star and will continue to do so and offer her roles where she does the same thing and audience also want to watch her like that. The people are typecast and never are able to break that image. Well that has always have been the case with us. We never look at a person’s present and their will to change themselves but judge them by their past mistakes or wrong decisions.

But the scenario is changing a little bit as parents are becoming more open with their kids making them understand what sex is all about and even it is being taught about in schools but still there is a long way for us to socially accept sex and porn as normal things.
